Sculpture Garden Pavilion

Sculpture Garden Pavilion

Bridgehampton, NY

Gluckman Mayner Architects; David Taber, Project Architect

Inspired by the purchase of several Isamu Noguchi stone sculptures, this pavilion was commissioned to mark the entry of a new minimalist garden for viewing the new acquisitions. This small, open-air structure of Alaskan yellow cedar was constructed using traditional Japanese joinery. The cantilevered, terrazzo ground-concrete slab contains discreet, custom light fixtures that illuminate the frosted glass roof panels. Stainless steel column bases, rafter caps and a roof gutter were carefully incorporated as not to undermine the integrity and beauty of the wood.
